RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING/EXPERIENCE
The introduction of RPL/E across all CAMS training modules and licence upgrades will take effect from 2010. New documentation and instructions will be promoted and made available on the CAMS website in the New Year.
TEAM ASSESSING
It has been identified that CAMS has a noticeable shortfall in the number of officials trained as Event Assessors. To address this shortfall a Team Assessment process will be introduced from 2010 – all information will be made available on the CAMS Website and be promoted prior to commencement.
The teams will be made up of one person who has skills in assessment (CAMS Event Assessor), and one person who is the subject matter expert who has the “technical” skills of the task involved. This will enable a quality assessment to be conducted. “Technical” skills are deemed to be a Bronze, Silver or Gold qualified official who may not necessarily have an EA endorsement.
All current EAs will be encouraged to undertake the new Event Assessor Course based on the Australian Sport Commission Model that will be available from the New Year which highlights the Team Assessment Model. Those officials that already hold Event Assessor Licences will of course continue to be recognised.
AUSTRALIAN OFFICIALS COMMISSION STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
The Australian Officials Commission is presently completing its Strategic Directions for 2010. Each Commissioner is determining timeframes for a number of projects, some of which include: nutritional standards and physical wellbeing for officials, an apparels matrix, recruitment and retention of officials, ongoing development of CAMS training packages and a mentoring project.
